Privacy Policy
Effective: June 10, 2026
Short version: NirooRemote is a remote control app for Samsung Smart TVs. All remote-control functionality happens exclusively within your local network between your device and your TV — no account, no cloud, no tracking of your TV usage. The app is free and shows a small banner ad via Google AdMob; ad delivery is the only third-party data processing in the app (see section 4).
1. What data is processed?
The app stores only on your device:
- IP addresses and device IDs of the Samsung TVs you connect to
- Authentication tokens issued by your TV during initial pairing
- Your favorite channels, apps, and macros
- App preferences (theme, haptic feedback, etc.)
- Cached EPG data (TV guide), if you use that feature
This data never leaves your device. It is not uploaded to any cloud.
2. Network access
NirooRemote needs access to your local network (Wi-Fi/LAN) to:
- Discover Samsung TVs on the network (mDNS/network scan)
- Send commands to the TV via WebSocket
- Read volume via UPnP
- Send Wake-on-LAN packets to wake the TV from standby
- Optionally fetch EPG data from an XMLTV URL (you configure the URL yourself)
3. Tracking / Analytics
The app uses no analytics or tracking frameworks for your behavior — no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, no Facebook SDK. Your TV usage (what you watch, which keys you press) is never recorded or transmitted.
The only third-party SDK in the app is the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob), used solely to display one banner ad (see section 4).
4. Advertising (Google AdMob) and other third parties
NirooRemote is free and financed by a single banner ad at the bottom of the screen, served by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC).
- Consent first: in the EU/EEA and UK, ads only load after you give consent via the Google consent dialog shown at first launch. You can decline; the app remains fully functional.
- What Google processes: to serve and measure ads, Google may process your IP address, device information, and your device's advertising ID. With consent, ads may be personalized; without personalization consent, non-personalized ads may be shown.
- Withdraw / manage: you can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalization in Android Settings → Google → Ads, and review Google's processing at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Beyond advertising, NirooRemote communicates only with:
- Your Samsung TV on your local network
- Optionally: the EPG server whose URL you configure in settings (default: epg.pw)
If you use an EPG server, its own privacy policy applies.
5. Your rights (GDPR)
NirooRemote itself does not collect or store personal data on any server — your TV data lives only on your device and is fully removed by uninstalling the app. For data processed by Google in connection with advertising (section 4), you can exercise your GDPR rights directly with Google; the consent dialog also lets you refuse that processing entirely.
6. Children
NirooRemote is not aimed at children under 13. Advertising is configured with Google's strictest content rating (G), and ads are not personalized without consent.
7. Changes to this policy
Any changes to this privacy policy will be announced in the app and in the store listing. The date at the top marks the current version.
